It is vitally important to know His name!
YAHUWAH is the NAME of God, the creator of the heavens and the earth. The name revealed to Moses in Exodus 3 :13-15 “ Moses said to God ‘ suppose I go to the Israelites and say to them ‘ the God of your fathers has sent me to you’ and they ask me ‘ what is His name?’ Then what shall I tell them?
God said to Moses “I AM who I AM. This is what you are to say to the Israelites “I AM has sent me to you”
“God also said to Moses ‘say to the Israelites YHWH ( yod-heh-vav-heh – the 4 Hebrew letters that form His name ,written today as ‘the LORD’ ) the God of your fathers- the God of Abraham, The God of Isaac and the God of Jacob- has sent me to you. THIS IS MY NAME forever, the name by which I am to be remembered from generation to generation”
Why then is His name not printed in Bibles today and the word “the LORD ” rather used?
We will quote directly from the preface to the NIV (and you will find the same explanation in all Bibles) and is as follows “In regard to the divine name YHWH, commonly referred to as the tetragrammaton, the translators adopted the device used in most English versions of rendering that name as ‘the LORD’ in capital letters to distinguish it from Adonai, another Hebrew word rendered ‘Lord’ for which small letters are used”
In “the complete Jewish Bible”, they reason that they also do not use the NAME of God and we quote one of several reasons: ” God’s personal name is never spoken”
Now we at The In-Amen Project find that puzzling, as the Word explicitly says “call on His NAME”
“The Lord” is a title, a substitute for the name of our heavenly Father, our Creator, which is the modern day Hebrew letters “yud-heh-vav-heh” and therefore called the “tetragrammaton” meaning ‘4-letter writing’.
Thus our Creator HAS A NAME but the Bible translators just did not want to say it for human tradition reasons. Bible translators adopted this ‘device’ and omit pronouncing His name, thus resulting in “the LORD” in italic and/or capital letters in all of the Bible, admitting in their prefaces that our heavenly Father has a name, but they chose to rather not use it.
To pronounce the name “YHWH” correctly is YAHUWAH. It is also spelled YAHUAH. The challenge is to get a name in another language to sound exactly like the original correct name when spelled in a language such as English.
The In-Amen Project will use the title “the Lord” when we are teaching and in everyday talk, once we have established that we are talking about our Father in Heaven, the Creator of the heavens and the earth, YHWH.But when reading the very word from Scripture where the Name of the Creator is clearly blocked out by the italic written word LORD, we will not hide His name . We will write or speak it to honour Him. When we are not quoting directly from Scripture and are talking to believers about Yahuwah, then we might say , The Lord said …. as we have already established who we are talking about. But blotting out His name in scripture when we quote verses, is unacceptable to us and we will use his name YHWH.
Many call Him ‘my Lord or Master’ . We feel that “Lord/Master/Ruler/Prince are all synonyms and are purely a title of authority. What is not acceptable is when READING the Word and it has “the LORD” in cursive/italics, showing that a ‘substitution’ has just been made by willful decision. We feel very blessed to have come to know His name. ( It is not Yaweh or Jehovah either as those all have different meanings- see below)
We do not consider ourselves to be scholars in Paleo- Hebrew or regular modern Hebrew or Greek, but we have studied enough to discover these remarkable truths. Just a few hours of dedicated study will show you clearly that diminishing and hiding the name of our Creator was a direct contravention of a specific instruction that He gave us through His Word. We are told to revere His name and not to diminish it any way; we are told to “call upon His name“. How can you call upon a name that you neither know or use?
There are plenty of witnesses to be found who will all be able to prove the same truths to you directly from the scriptures and that is the only validation that counts.
We place all of our trust in our Father, that His Spirit will lead us into all truth and we have been much blessed by learning His name. We simply encourage you to give Him the honour that His name deserves. Although most Bibles today have adopted this method (just as we quoted out of one translation above) and admittedly ” adopted the device” to blot His name out and change His name to only ‘ the Lord’ whilst KNOWING full well His name and writing it in footnotes, we will call on His true name and not hide it behind tradition and human devices anymore; behind ‘rules taught by men’ as the prophet Isaiah says. Many of the prophets’ names are also written differently today due translations, but none of their names have been hidden like the name of ” the LORD” and we are zealous for HIS name to be spoken and not hidden.
The name of our Saviour Jesus Christ has been translated, ( YAHUWshua Messiah ) and we prefer to call Him on His Hebrew name, Yahuw’shua, but the translators only hid the name of the Father YHWH behind “the LORD”
We put a short summary together below of what we have learned.
YHWH is pronounced “YAHUWAH ” when the vowels are added. Not “Jehovah” or “Yahweh”. YHWH – The fourth letter is exactly the same as the second letter- ‘a’ not ‘eh’.
Many Kings and Prophets names carry YAHU or YAHUW and not at all “Jehov” or “Yahwe”
For example Jeremiah is Yirmeyahuw, Isaiah is Yesha’yahuw. See example in Strongs concordance Hebrew 3470 for Y’sha’yahuw ( Isaiah) . Prophets names also have ‘el’ ‘ yah’ and ‘ah’. You will not find “Jehov” or “Yahwe” in their names .
The tribe of “YAHUWdAH” (“the Door is YAHUWAH”) Take the “d” or dalet out and you get “YAHUWAH” not “Yahweh.”
Written in English ‘HalleluYah‘ has been unchanged in ‘sound’ of its pronunciation in all different languages throughout the world over many millennia.
We do speak English today and our Bibles have transliterated names and we pronounce the prophets’ names in English when we teach otherwise most of the audience will not know who we are referring to (though we love to say their names in the original language it was given in.) The only name that we will not compromise on is the name of the Creator as His name has been deliberately taken out and replaced by ‘The LORD’ . The sad truth is that Bible translators completely acknowledge this .
We have decided to say His name and write it each time we quote directly from the Bible.
Even though The In-Amen Project does NOT recommend the NIV, we do quote from it ( we prefer the King James Version (KJV) and the Scriptures) as translations such as these are well known and because many believers have learned passages from them by heart. In addition, we will at times quote other translations to get the full spectrum of understanding.
Example: See Exodus 3: 14 in the NIV Ryrie study Bible expanded edition 1994 page 93 ” God said to Moses I am who I am “.
Now look at the footnote on the same page and it reads as follow: ” I am who I am – The inner meaning of Yahweh. – ” I am the One who is ” – emphasizes God’s dynamic and active self-existence. See also note of Gen 2:4
The footnote then continues with the following: ” LORD” ( Heb.,Yahweh) was not pronounced in later years by pious Jews for fear of violating the command in 20:7. Instead they substituted the word Adonai ( Lord ) whenever Yahweh occurred. The use of large and small capital letters ( LORD) in the Bible text indicates that the Hebrew word is Yahweh ( or Jehovah)
** the emphasis here is not in the incorrect placing of the vowels, resulting in YaHWeH but the acknowledgement of His name and then replacing it in the scripture verses with the LORD ! Even if the translators just kept to the original writings and wrote YHWH !
Another example is found in Psalm 105 v 45 and 106:5 in the footnotes showing the reader that the word in the verse is actually ” Hallelu YAH.
We will give many examples below where modern day Bible translators acknowledge that they know the name of the Creator. They acknowledge YHWH in sub notes and prefaces but substitute it in the verses ! The significance in most Bibles is not the incorrect placing of the vowels , but the point that the translators acknowledge YHWH as His name! As we mentioned before, if only they kept the tetragrammaton YHWH.
The importance of His name is something that the Spirit will impress upon you to embrace. From there, He will lead you to the revelation of the Truth that your heart earnestly seeks. It is not our intention to impose our interpretation on you, only to encourage you to make your own journey and let His Spirit guide your steps.
To YAHUWAH Almighty Father of all Creation , to You be the splendor and glory forever and ever. We thank you Father for sending us your Son YAHUWshua, our Saviour, the name above every name and by which every knee should bow and every tongue confess! Philippians 2:8 says ” …being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to death- even death on a cross, Therefore God exalted Him to the highest place and gave Him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus Christ (Yahuw’shua ) every knee should bow in heaven and on earth and under the earth and every tongue confess that Jesus (Yahuw’shua) the Saviour is Lord and Master to the glory of God the Father”.
Just a few of many examples of His ( hidden! ) name. When we now read these scripture verses below it does not sound right anymore ! Now that we know that His name is not ” the LORD” our hearts burn within us to a new level of passion to acknowledge His true name !
